Online resources: Summary: ... The Christian and Missionary Alliance is the only Protestant society which has entered Annam, this great land of sixteen million benighted souls for work among the native people. The work is necessarily yet in its initial stages, for the translation of the Scriptures into the vernacular of the Annamese races is yet occupying our pioneer Protestant missionaries. Mr. and Mrs. Cadman are taking a leading part in this important phase of the work, and the British and Foreign Bible Society is heartily seconding the efforts of the missionaries by undertaking the task of publishing the Scripture portions as they are completed. May the facts which this little book furnishes be as fresh fuel to feed the flame of missionary intercession in the hearts of those whose sympathy has already been called forth. And may the book help to awaken in many more Christians larger concern and action in behalf of this new and needy mission field and enterprise.
