... Entitled With Steadfast Purpose: Essays on Acts in Honor of Henry Jackson Flanders, Jr., the book is a collection of fifteen essays and a biographical sketch of the honoree. Each essay reflects creative ability, careful research, and respectable scholarship. Some are based upon traditional methodologies such as source and redaction criticism, while others utilize the newer tools of New Testament research, including narrative and rhetorical analysis. This diversity reflects the breadth of Flanders' own research interests in the study of this biblical book. Some will provoke other scholars to further research which will result in either confirmation or correction of their respective theses. Some will be cited in future publications and presentations, while others will serve as sources of personal edification and inspiration. They are all interesting and appropriately fitting for conclusion in a volume on Acts in honor of Dr. Flanders...
