The reader is invited to enter into the energetic dialogue that marks the current state of research on the theology of the Pauline letters. We are in a period of rapid change. Neither the models of the past nor the deconstructive analyses of the present do justice to the creative flexibility of Paul’s thought. New paradigms are needed for construing Paul’s theology, paradigms that respect its flexibility and define the nature and locus of its coherence. The chapters that follow do not present the final word on this topic
