The autobiography of St. Augustine of Hippo, written in Latin between 397 and 400 C.E. The work outlines his sinful youth and his conversion to Christianity. Of the thirteen total books, the first nine are autobiographical and the last four are commentary. He shows sorrow for his sexual sins and writes about the importance of sexual morality. The books were written as prayers to God.
