The essays in this book are expertly edited and shed light on the entire issue of whether the world's religions and their assertions about `reality` are different ways of describing and dealing with a single `reality` or whether they are in fact conceptually incommensurable. In the former case, they resemble philosophies using different vocabularies. In the latter, they are more like works of art. We suspect no one will answer that question definitively for another thousand or more years, but if you read this book, you're going to be much wiser about what's at stake. The authors are a splendid testimony to David Tracy's capacity to bring together scholars of vastly different outlooks to converse not fight.
