520 _aInspiration is a much-treated subject. It is, however, one of perennial importance. Somewhat strangely, it seems to the author, the question of inspiration is often considered without giving proper attention to the question of canonicity. It would seem that the second matter is corollary to the first, for to know what is inspired is as vital as to know the nature of inspiration. Therefore in the present study, the canonicity of both the Old Testament and the New is treated with the doctrine of inspiration, and attention is also given to the other question, subsidiary to that of inspiration, the transmission of the Biblical text through the centuries.
